The Export and Investment Fund (EIFO) is seeking a visionary Investment Director to lead our efforts in the converging innovation space of digital biology. We provide capital and strategic guidance in collaboration with top-tier venture capital funds (such as Novo Holdings, Atomico, Sofinnova, Gilde, EQT, etc.), family offices, and global tech giants like Nvidia. Our rapidly growing life science portfolio includes 40+ companies, with investments ranging from Pre-Seed to Growth stage, typically between EUR 1 - 40 million per company. EIFO takes an active role in value creation, working closely with select founders and leadership teams to help them grow and scale their businesses. 

Our commitment to Digital Biology is evident through investments in companies like Corti, Dawn Health, Kvantify, and Visiopharm, as well as therapeutics platform companies like Orbis Medicines and Freya Biosciences, which generate vast amounts of proprietary data enabling unique digital strategies and partnerships paired with drug development. 

Other portfolio companies incl. Antag Therapeutics, Advalight, Cerebriu, Draupnir Bio, Evosep, Eupry and WARD247. 

We are now looking to expand our portfolio with more transformative investments in AI-powered drug discovery, digital therapeutics, and computational biology. 


The Role 

As Investment Director, you will: 

• Lead EIFO’s investment strategy in digital biology, identifying and backing high-impact companies transforming drug discovery, diagnostics, and patient care. 
• Source, negotiate, and execute investments up to 40 mEUR with a focus on AI-driven biotech, digital therapeutics, and computational drug discovery. 
• Provide strategic and operational support to portfolio companies, leveraging your expertise to drive growth and scale. 
• Represent EIFO at industry conferences, startup events, and universities to source top-tier investment opportunities. 
• Serve as a Board Member, guiding leadership teams and shaping the direction of cutting-edge companies in the field. 

 
Who You Are 

We are looking for a seasoned investment professional with deep expertise in digital biology, AI, and life sciences. 

You should have: 

• A degree in natural sciences or medicine (MD preferred), ideally complemented by finance expertise (MBA, CFA, or similar). 
• A strong track record in venture capital, private equity, or startup investments, particularly in AI-driven healthcare innovations. Ideally, blended with experience from a leading Big Tech company.  
• Experience assessing data-driven business models, computational approaches, and proprietary AI technologies. 
• Hands-on exposure to scaling biotech startups, either as an investor, founder, or strategic advisor. 
• The ability to conduct technical and scientific diligence, ensuring EIFO invests in the most promising digital biology innovations. 
• A strong network within the global life sciences, VC, and AI ecosystems.
